Lipase

Overview of Test

Lipase is a class of enzymes used in the digestion and transporation of triglycerides. Many of the lipases are produced in the pancreas. Elevated levels of lipase, in combination with elevated amylase enzymes traditionally indicate pancreatitis. Elevated levels can also indicate pancreatic tumors, damage to intestines, diabetic ketoacidosis and other conditions.
